Blatter and Platini banned for eight years – TV 2

FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini has been banned from all football for eight years.

B akgrunnen for exclusion is a money transfer made in 2011. The roughly 17 million crowns should have been payment for work done from 1998 to 2002.

The two have claimed that there has been talk of an oral contract and payment for consultancy work, but FIFA’s ethics committee does not put trust in the parties’ explanation.

– As he sat as FIFA president Sepp Blatter authorized money transfer to Michel Platini. A transaction that had any legal basis in the written agreement between the parties from 25 August 1999 states the FIFA statement.

The Committee, chaired by Judge Hans-Joachim Eckert, however, can not prove corruption, so a livstidsutestengelse was therefore irrelevant.

In addition to the ban has Blatter and Platini received respectively 440,000 and 700,000 Norwegian kroner in fines.

Faced TV2 reviewing general secretary of the Norwegian Football Kjetil Siem exclusion as the biggest political earthquake that has been.

– It must be the biggest political earthquake that has ever been. Not just in football but in all sports history. Blatter and Platini have been two of the most powerful people in world football in many, many years, said Siem.

– They will probably appeal, but it is completely probably over anyway. The two that have ruled the world football is finished, he said.

– It is a very special situation. Blatter was the man who worked for the creation of FIFA’s Ethics Committee. Now he falls to its own devices, said Siem.

Defender Hallén

NFF with Yngve Hallén spearheaded’ve got criticism for publicly go out and support Platini. Siem believes the Football Association can not be blamed for it.

– It is too easy to criticize when the answers are on the table. Norway has been in both, but both were listed as approved candidates, and then you have to deal with it. It is impossible to know what people have in the back seat before looking in the rear, so it is completely wrong to criticize football president, said Siem.

Three important steps for new FIFA

Siem highlight three elementary steps that must be done to stack the new FIFA on the legs.

– All Media and marketing rights must return to FIFA itself, so that it is controlled centrally and local leaders can not take advantage of the opportunities to resell rights. Then you have more control, said Siem.

– In addition, it creates a system where it is drawn clearer lines between the president and the board. One needs a clearer overview of who is responsible for what, he said.

– Finally, one must consider how VM to be distributed and one needs a conclusion on Qatar World Cup very fast. It can not hang anymore. One has to decide whether it should be held or not. It can only be done on a basis, namely the championship is bought and paid for or not. Is not the championship bought so it must be supported, said Siem.

New election in February

In February the stage is set for new presidential elections in FIFA, and there sits UEFA again with one candidate. Resigning soccer president Yngve Halléns last act will be to emit Norway’s vote in the elections.

– It will be the very last thing he does as president of the NFF, so it is naturally a very important choice for the future, said Siem.

– Europe is left with one candidate, Infantino. If he takes in the whole of Europe, he needs 54 votes needed to win a majority in the presidential election. He has emerged as the clear best choice among the candidates, said Siem.
