Mourinho should be fired – now – VG

COMMENT: 18 trophies has José Mourinho (52) won in their last 12, all seasons as manager. It is the extremely strong CV that makes that he still has a job in Chelsea.

But now should the Portuguese days in London club be numbered.

A less merited manager, who leader of a reigning league champion who after almost half played season is a small point above the relegation zone, would have been finished long ago.

Clough was the last man

The last team that was in a similar situation was Leeds United, led by Mourinho typifies Brian Clough, 41 years ago. When 16 rounds were played, had Clough already been sacked, but Leeds were still just one point ahead of the relegation zone.

They exchanged words manager, and piled up in ninth place in the end.

And if Chelsea, owned by the former then kick-happy owner Roman Abramovich, should get something in return from season 2015/16, and not least to get back on its feet for success in the coming seasons, so they should get rid of his manager now.

Although this is the man with Europe’s best CV in top football the last 12 years: Seven league title with four different clubs in four countries, two Champions League titles, one UEFA Cup and seven victories in national cups in four countries.

Thought it would turn

On a general basis, I think it is too easy to kick managers today. Very often I think clubs are too poor patience before they choose the easiest way out: Spark manager, let a new man try.

Still, I mean, for once, that a dismissal will be the right for Chelsea in the situation the club has come in now.

We are many who long believed that this will turn Mourinho. That he would fix it, get back “we against all” mentality, and slowly but surely climb enough on the table that a top-four place was not completely impossible.

New explanations every weekend

But it has not happened, nor is it the opposite: With the same players who won a sovereign league gold in spring, do not get Mourinho out more than a few percent of what he did last season. Fact is impossible to get away: In the same arenas, against the same opponents, last season, took Chelsea 33 points in 16 games. Now they have taken 15, less than half of the catch in 2015/16. And three of four wins so far came at home against Aston Villa (jumbo), home against Norwich (number 18) and away against West Bromwich (number 13).

After each loss, the new explanations, either there are judges (often), ball boys (against Leicester), bad luck, that everyone is against Chelsea – and the players fail HAN. But it’s never his fault. Never. Players hear and read what the boss says outwards. It does not look good. Instead whirring around on the pitch, and ends up hearing new testimony from the boss after another loss.

Lost confidence

It seems to me that he has lost confidence among players . Even John Terry, Mourinho’s most trusted man, does not look like he totally believes in what the boss is doing. Cesc Fabregas is not working. Diego Costa is not working. Nemanja Matic is not working. Eden Hazard going round in circles without getting anywhere. Four players were fantastic, especially in the first part of last season. Mourinho has changed and changed, with key players – and again. Nothing works. Chelsea lose against good teams and the teams that they normally are far better than that.

Either Chelsea players chock saturate and must be replaced one by one in the future, or club must release players’ energy – and then must it changed voice and face on top of the pyramid – that Mourinho.

Good without continuity

All managers face adversity – once. But there’s something about Mourinho’s behavior and life in their clubs. Two seasons seems to be enough, both in Chelsea in the previous period and Real Madrid were all tired of each other in season number three with José Mourinho.

It may look like it has happened – again. Therefore, the best solution for Roman Abramovich – again – be kicking manager.

He has swapped manager 10 times in 13 seasons, a club which is proof that it is not necessarily the manager since it must be continuity of it being the last success.

13 trophies Chelsea have picked up since Abramovich entered before 2003/04-season (12 seasons). He shall maintain the incision, he should do as he usually: Switching manager.
