Norway to World Cup final after frenzied drama. Dark went straight to … – Dagbladet.no

HERNING / OSLO (Dagbladet): The Norwegian handball girls are ready for the World Cup finals after victory against Romania in semi tonight.

That means a meeting with surprise Netherlands in the grand finale Sunday. They won easily against Poland in the semifinals before Norway entered the field.

The semifinal against Romania was a nerve drama that was settled after extra time. The Norwegian girls held your nerve and secured the final ticket with 35-33 after two extra time.

– There is pleasure in the suffering. We met a very good team. They have grown tremendously and are highly skilled. They’ve got faith in collective and were difficult to break down, said coach Thorir Hergeirsson to TV2.



– Absolutely amazing

Nora Mørk was Norway’s top scorer with eight goals, while Stine Brede Oftedal and Veronica Kristiansen scored six each. Dark was overjoyed after the match and went straight to the football boyfriend Stefan Strandberg, who is pro in Russian Krasnodar.

– It feels fantastic to be in the final. We had to work hard for it, but I think we deserve it. We decided that we did not have anything to lose and had to run full throttle, says Nora Mørk to TV 2.

There were expecting a tight start to the game. Norway took the lead 4-2, but the Romanians responded and came back to 5-5.

Norway struggled defensively in the opening minutes and Romania scored seven goals in the first 12 minutes. Kari Aalvik Grimsbø also struggled to get into the game, but around halfway through the half came two quick saves.

The interaction between Nora Mørk and Heidi Løke worked better throughout the half and Veronica Kristiansen showed shot arm with four goals the first 20 minutes.

Grimsø saved extra time

The teams followed each other like shadows beyond the ball. Norway missed a late hideout period so that Romania equalized to 27-27 just two minutes before the end.
