Now there is nothing more to push for – Aksel Lund Svindal is Norway downhill king – Dagbladet.no

Aksel Lund Svindal had never been on the podium in Val Gardena’s classic downhill. Now he has won it as well.

NORWAY HAD NEVER won four downhill races in a row in the World Cup. Now we have done it too (Kjeltil Jansrud the last race last year – Ajksel Lund Svindal the three that have been run for years).

AND UNTIL historic ski race in the Dolomites stood Axle Lund Svindal next Lasse Kjus at the Norwegian downhill throne with 10 victories each.

Now he stands there alone.

As the king he is.

FRIDAY’S SUPER G-TRIPPEL was not only historic in Norwegian alpine context. It tells as much about Norway’s dominance in speed disciplines, and how well the legacy of the gang who once went by the name “The Attacking Vikings” has been maintained. It is not coincidence that has led to Aksel Lund Svindal took over as the big star after dream team Kjetil Andre Aamodt and Lasse Kjus. Just as it is a coincidence that Kjetil Jansrud have built stone by stone by the many spinal problems and Aleksander Aamodt Source now reaping the fruits of his painstaking and thorough work.

But recreating it, in the true sense.

And extremely hard work.

NORWEGIAN ALPIN SPORT HAS since the big breakthrough with Ole Kristian Furuseth victories in Japan in spring 1989 (slalom and giant slalom) developed a rare and unique knowledge base around everything that deals with Norwegian skiing. In addition, we have throughout the relatively short success story had some dedicated fathers who have pushed their poder, been at the forefront both technical and equipment wise, and thus given Norwegian alpine sport periodic ahead. For it is not money that has made us as good as we are – they can be found in the major Alpine countries in Central Europe.

It is exclusively the competence, research, determination and understanding of what is required to succeed.

every time to a change in coaching and support network around the team going all this expertise in heritage. Which is a huge success. Not only what Norway has learned and experienced through over 25 years in the alpine world elite. Equally important is to recreate the understanding of what the individual must forsake and sacrifice for at all to capitalize on what is learned and experienced through 25 years. For there are no shortcuts to a papered Norwegian podium in Italian Val Gardena one day – and the first double victory since frnz Klammer won both races in 1976 – even though none of Messrs Lund Svindal, Jansrud and Aamodt Source boast six-packs and oxygen uptake which would Olympiatoppen proud.

It’s just hard work.

And balls we normally lethal can not comprehend the size of.

SAME TIME TRADES THE to be smart and know their own limitations. You can not run downhill at full throttle. Then it goes to hell. And Aksel Lund Svindal knows it after he was near death in Beaver Creek for eight years ago.

An experience that has made him a better skier.

FRAM THIS season had Aksel Lund Svindal never won more than four races in a World Cup. Now – after that six speed runs are run season 2015/2016 – he has won five. And it’s almost so I feel a bit sorry for Kjetil Jansrud who won seven races when Aksel Lund Svindal was out injured last season.

Though, when your friend has begun to walk on water, it is possible to count second and third places as well.
