Dozen of Gjekstad – Sande Blad

As an active player he managed to bring three championship gold with Sandefjord Håndballklubb. Then he Cups Drammen coach.

The last eight triumphs he has taken with Larvik HK. Despite this series, he does not believe that he is the one with most triumphs in Norway.

– I am sure that several of the girls have more gold than me. Both Tonje Larsen and Lene Rantala has been with all the way for Larvik HK, says Ole Gustav Gjekstad, and continues:
– It was not stupid to get the dozen fully with victory over Halden. Chances for gold was reasonably large. Newly Halden are two points above the relegation zone after 10 rounds.

And Gjekstad right. Among gold wholesalers at Larvik HK got Lene Rantala his 14 gold, and with the most winning in championship gold in Norway.

Small worries

The coach had little to worry about. Larvik coasted into their seventh consecutive championship gold in handball Tuesday. The favorites from Vestfold won 35-15 over cup final debutant.

Larvik provided a solid foundation for their seventh consecutive gold outset. In the first four minutes they scored four goals against Haldens zero.

Despite Larvik led 14-5 at the break, drafted the bit for that sovereign team. Halden Erne stood well in defense, but blew it in a counterattack. Nerves took possibly prevail.

Halden goalkeeper Tone Wølner was also a brilliant game in the cage. She saved ten shots from the team led by outgoing coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad, to wild cheering for supporters.

Continued over driving

In the second half continued Gjekstads girls to increase their lead. Management just increased and increased throughout the second half.

Outstanding counterattacking, often led by goalkeeper Sandra Tofts brilliant passing, ensured a convincing win 35-15 for Norway’s best handball team on the women’s side.

– They delivered very good. Efforts were good, and it becomes a bit like that today when we have had a longer break, says Larvik coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad said.

Unaffected

On Monday Gjekstad launched as a possible new Danish national coach. Although speculation came amid preparations for NM-finals, he does not feel affected.

– It is of course nice to be mentioned, but it’s not something I spend a lot of time. Over the years I’ve been involved in many important matches, and I have never been influenced by matters outside what I daily keeps me, says gold girls coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad.
