These 10 can win Aftenposten gold medal – Aftenbladet.no

2014 was a very good year for Norwegian elite. Therefore there were many strong candidates for Aftenposten Gold Medal.

You can read about the statutes and all winners since 1933 here .

– The battle for the gold medal has been very hard, says Eirik Fardal as jury president and sports director in Aftenposten.

Here are the 10 hottest candidates for this year’s gold medal:

Maiken Caspersen Falla

Won Olympic gold in cross country sprint in Sochi. After the biggest gold favorite Marit Bjoergen busted in the semifinals, ensured Falla for Norwegian gold front Ingvild Flugstad Østberg.

Joergen Graabak

Took a surprising gold medal in combined in Sochi. Went also anchor leg on the Norwegian relay team in Sochi and beat Germany’s man on the last few meters.

Ola Vigen Hattestad

The man who gave up a place in sprint relay four years earlier, kept his cool in a very dramatic Olympic sprint in Sochi and was eventually completely superior home stretch.

Kjetil Jansrud

Won Olympic gold in the super-G, the most “Norwegian” of all Olympic events in alpine skiing. Also took bronze in the downhill. Has started the season 2014/2015 amazing.

Therese Johaug

Since the first Norwegian who won the Tour de Ski. Was totally boss up the monster hill Alpe Cermis. Also won silver in the Olympics and World Cup 2013/2014.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby

Røa runner won the first Norwegian man Tour de Ski. Also won Olympic bronze and World Cup 2013/2014.

Emil Hegle Svendsen

Secured gold mass start at the Olympics in Sochi. Was also involved in the Norwegian mix team that went to the top in the same Winter Games.

Mats Zuccarello

First Norwegian who has played Stanley Cup final in ice hockey. Had a brilliant season and was a very important player for the New York Rangers.

Alexander Kristoff

Got historically when he March 23 became the first Norwegian who won one of cycling’s five “monuments”. Spurtslo all major Milan-San Remo.

Cecilia Brækhus

Since the first woman in history who has conquered four world champion belts in pro boxing when she beat Ivana Habazin September.
