Norwegian hockey star in grief after her mother’s death – Adresseavisen

The Swedish elite victories club Modo fighting to keep their place in SHL (Svenska hockey league), but has had to do without one of the team’s top point pickers, the Norwegian national team player Per-Åge Skrøder so far in qualifying game.

Skrøder was in the first match against HC Vita Hästen from Norrköping and was to ensure Modo win 3-0. But since then he has been over two games. Personal reasons were the club’s explanation for the absence, but now Skrøder even told the reason.

His cancer mother passed away last week, only 60 years old.

– Sometimes it has been very tough. I have tried to focus on hockey but it has been difficult. In quite a few fights, I’ve just not been fully present, he explains. He ended on 25 points on 51 games in regular season this season.

He was on several trips to Norway during the period of illness and has received full support from the club during the difficult months. Tuesday he was back with the club for training, but he is not as Modo play the fourth match of the qualifying game tomorrow, Wednesday. Instead he goes back home to be with family towards funeral.

– Despite that here happened in the middle of qualification game, the club has supported me. There has been talk about something else. I’m incredibly grateful for, says Skrøder.

And the team has performed well, even without national team player. After three matches leader Modo 3-0 in games against Vita Hästen. Created missing just one victory before a renewed place in the elite division in boxing.

Skrøder think he will be ready for a possible fifth game, but do not think it is necessary.

– I hope we manage to finish the series now. It has seen stable good. It will be a tough fight in Norrkoping, but we are against the first 20 minutes so we manage it, predicts the wing.
