Country Kind Players ber people turnip down ‘Martin hysteria’ – VG

LILLESTRØM (VG) Mats Moller Dæhli (19) asking people to calm down expectations of seeing Martin Ødegaard (15) on the team now.

The very young jewel did not come to Malta, and also got free from the media at Sunday’s press meeting. Roommate Mats Moller Dæhli believe Ødegaard took it very well that he was exchanged and became the youngest player at a European Championship qualifier on Friday.

– Take it slow

– He took it quite calmly. So I think everyone should take it slow. For him we’re going to get a lot of pleasure in the future. I do not think we should rush so much that he did not play against Malta, says Mats Moller Dæhli.

– Do you think he is playing against Bulgaria

– I know nothing about. But he has been good in training. If he can play, I think he is ready for it, answers 19-year-old.

Also Vegard Forren believe the environment must be patient with Martin Ødegaard.

– We could also wanted to see a 15 year old out there. But he’s going to get their caps. I think the Norwegian people to relax a bit. He is patient themselves and the people must also be. It is the largest talent, but we have several in the group here who deserve to play, says Forren.

Stefan Johansen were aware that many responded – especially on social media – after Ødegaard was sitting on bench against Malta when the match was decided.

– There has been much media fuss around him. It is natural that there is such a reaction. But we must remember that he is 15 years old. It’s Per-Mathias who is the boss. If he thinks it’s smarter for Martin to sit on the bench, so we have to rely on it. He has, after all, some years experience, says Stefan Johansen.

Took a talk with Martin after Malta fight

He even took a chat with Martin Ødegaard after victory over Malta.

– I said there is no reason to be disappointed. He is 15 years old and take it easy. He took it very nice and professional. That you are so professional when you are 15 years is unique, says midfield man.

The Norwegian national team players believe the comfortable victory over Malta is valuable for confidence ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Bulgaria.

– We have felt that we’ve been a bit unlucky and not got the results we deserved. Whatever the opponent so it was important to get three points and zero backwards. I think we should forget a little that it was Malta, and instead bring us the positive. I notice the group that there is much positivity after the victory. It is promising the struggle against Bulgaria, says Forren.

Belief in good times wave

After many negative results he feels Friday’s three points can be what gets in on Norway winning ways.

– We were all aware that three points were important to us. But the way we do it, is little impressive. We create so much that it gives us the belief that we can do the same at Ullevaal. It will be tough for teams to get there ahead, says Molde defender.

tomålsscorer Joshua King also believes that he can float on the wave of prosperity.

– for I am happy, although I think I could have scored both one or two more. I hope I can put a few also against Bulgaria, says national team striker, who currently do not know much about Bulgaria.

– I have not seen any clips of Bulgaria yet, but have heard that they are a difficult team than Malta. There is no “walkover”. But the team has confidence now after that game we played against Malta. It is important to keep going, not least put the chances that we did last time and that the defensive line holds tight, says Joshua King.

– We know we have to put our game like we did against Malta, and any another notch up. Then I think it will go well. We will try to control the game, and play good attacking football, says Mats Moller Dæhli.
