– I think It’s sad, but very understandable that Borre Rognlien choose to give as of Sports. It’s very much respect the work he has done and his 52 years long efforts for the sport, not to mention the results he has achieved as of Sports, among others the lottery scheme and VAT compensation, says Tom Tvedt to Aftonbladet.

– What ambitions do you have when it comes to the position as of Sports

– I am first and foremost a candidate to serve on the board of a national team, and find work done there is extremely important and interesting.

– If I am a candidate for the presidency gets the nomination committee and the sports council to decide, says 46-year-old from Randfontein.

Experienced politician

– What do you think is required by the next president?

– It will be up to the selection committee and the sports council to decide. I have agreed to ask for re-election to the board of a national team in June, and has given notice to the selection committee that I ask myself available where sport will have me, says Tvedt.

He is, in other words interested in the task.

Do one from their own ranks

The fact that he was already sitting in the sports board, says outgoing Borre of Sports Roe Lien is a big advantage. 69-year-old will have a successor from their own ranks. Something else will do the job “impossible”, he said.

Rognlien use Thursday to new interviews after the news burst Wednesday night.

– I’m of course not going to name names before I spoke with the Nomination Committee. But to pick a president from outside without detailed knowledge of Norwegian sport, will make it an impossible task for the person says Roe Lien said.

Got hurt by Olympic criticism

He also believes that the successor must master the new media situation very well.

– Media World blasts off without having that much control. This is an important task to handle, says Borre Rognlien.

– It is clear there has been heavy. I have been both angered, hurt and saddened by it. But there are very few in the sport that has been with this criticism, says Rowan Lien.

Challenging Role

He knows better than most that the presidency is a very demanding role.

– There are many conflicting interests in sport. It is important to have regular dialogue with sports associations (54) and sports bodies (19). Sport must stand together externally. Otherwise it will be played out of the political system, he said.

The search for arvakteren his NIF is in full swing after Roe Lien announced that he will not seek re-election in the summer things. Also Dag Vidar Hanstad highlighted by many as a possible candidate.

– I know, begin the nomination committee work now. I do not know what the Nomination Committee are looking for and do not see myself as a presidential candidate, said Hanstad said.

Several candidates

Also Jorodd Asphjell (1 . Vice President) mentioned as an alternative to Rognlien. Asphjell currently sits in Parliament.

– Being of Sports is no biverv. But I have said to the committee that I ask myself available for election. We will have a meeting on 22 October. So we’ll see then, says Asphjell, thus probably more determined to continue as vice president.
