In mourning for his friend’s death – Aftenposten

Benny Lekström is in mourning after his good friend Pontus Segerström (33) passed away on Monday night.

ALFHEIM: On Sunday night died Pontus Segerström of cancer.

It has gone deep into the Tromsø Swedish goalkeeper Benny Lekström, who played alongside Segerström in Brommapojkarna.

– I saw Pontus last summer just before his cancer diagnosis. When we played golf together and had a very nice, says Benny Lekström to iTromsø.



– Surprisingly

Lekström Segerström became known in 2009 when Segerström came to Brommapojkarna.

Since the two Swedes been close comrades.

– I feel so sorry for the kids who never get to see her father again. This was very surprising and incredibly heavy. I feel pretty empty right now, says Benny Lekström.

11. August, Segerström cancer diagnosis.

Barely two months later he had thus succumbed to cancer fight ..

– Pontan received the treatment, and we all thought it would go well with him, says Lekström.

Segerström started his career in Brommapojkarna and also played in Denmark (Odense) and in Norway (Quotes), where he won the league title with Quotes in 2008, which was his only merit as a footballer.

After the 2009 season, he returned to Sweden and Brommapojkarna, where he thus played until his death now Monday night.

In recent months was Segerström treatment for the disease, but he thus not winning the tough battle.

– Good friends

Lekström Segerström were good friends and both had young families.

– We were tight, both he and I and our families. It is so incredibly sad to think of all the family who never get to meet his dad again. I know the good and feel really with them, says 33-year-old.

At the same time he’s not going to take time off training with Tromsø.

– I’m going to go exercise . It is part of the process. It is certainly well and got a little run and get tired of trying to focus on something else, say Lekström.
