Swedish doctor dismisses Russian shock attack on Sundby – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): The president of the Russian Ski Federation – Yelena Välbe (47) – evoked yesterday stir with his statements to a Russian newspaper.

The former cross-country skier believes Norwegians Martin Johnsrud Sundby spearheaded drag medicinal benefits of their asthma diagnoses.

– It is annoying that there is a team full of asthmatics. But as doctors allow it (medication), there is nothing we can do, she told the newspaper Izvestia.

– This is not performance-enhancing, says the Swedish team doctor Per “Pligg” Andersson told Expressen today.

Success

The Norwegian success in cross country track will apparently never end. Among the men there are triple Norwegian overall World Cup. The same goes for the ladies.

It was the Swedish Aftonbladet as first publicized statements to Valbas. Expressen follow up paper newspaper today with the following title:

“Ilske against Norway: – Ill borde inte vara with.”

The main title accompanied by the following subtitle:

“Ryska Pampa will stop stjärnorna asthma medicin.”

jalba says:

– In World Cup relay in Lillehammer were three Norwegian layer on the pallet. That has never happened before. Naturally sinking interest in ski sports with such a domination.

According to the newspaper Izvestia, President Vladimir Putin stated that people who medicating themselves should participate in Paralympic doctors.

And Valben’s releasing :

– I say the same: Norway’s best performer (Johnsrud Sundby) said recently in an interview that he could not perform in Oberstdorf because it was too hot. He had trouble breathing and was forced to take powerful drugs. For some bullshit. If a person is sick, and performing that way, how well he had been if he were healthy? For me should not a sick person compete.

Rejects

Válber mean asthma medication helps open the airways, and that it thus offers advantages.

This denies the Swedish doctor Per “Pligg” Andersson faced Expressen:

– When we give drugs to our athletes, so it’s that they have a diagnosis that allows treatable. It here is not performance enhancing. Not at all. It’s about that one should have the same conditions, he said.

“Pligg” continues:

– Besides There are studies showing that healthy who take asthma medicine are not getting any positive effect of it. This has also meant that, in principle, has taken away all asthma drugs from the prohibited list.

– Ignorance

Norway coach, Vidar Løfshus, says the following about the “attack” from Russia:

– I think Válber statements are based on ignorance. Will she talk to us, she is warmly welcomed. The same information she finds at FIS central, he points out.

– The fact that many Norwegian athletes get medications at a young age is alarming, says Valbas.
