“Possibly the worst party a world champion has played” – Fædrelandsvennen

Magnus Carlsen went on great blow to the Chess Olympiad.

Norway 0.5 to 3.5 Croatia

Magnus Carlsen and Norwegian first team met with Croatia on Tuesday. Carlsen had brought Jon Ludvig Hammer, Leif Erlend Johannessen and Kjetil Lie.

Simen Agdestein was scrapped after his defeat in Monday’s team match against Turkey, where Norway only managed a draw.

Two rounds before finally lay the Norwegians at 26th place overall, while Croatia was ranked number 24 in the tournament.

Magnus Carlsen met Ivan Saric. The latter had the advantage of the white pieces.

Throughout the tournament chess computer repeatedly suggested that Magnus Carlsen has been responsible for losses after the opening, only to be proved wrong by the world champion.

Many errors

In Tuesday’s game against Croatia let no lot longer fool. Chess Ace made several errors, was in trouble and really hopelessly lost.

Our chess expert Nicolai Getz never saw Magnus Carlsen worse.

“This opening is rarely seen at the top level. It seems strange to move the horse twice in a row before he has developed other pieces, “he said.

When the position deteriorated further:

– If Carlsen purely hypothetical would give up over the next four turns, this will possibly be the worst party a world champion has played in a few hundred years, he continued.

– Tried to be too clever

characterizes Magnus Carlsen when he plays well, is that he is superior to evaluate positions. Today he seemed unprepared opponent and started fast on a failed strategy.

– He was trying to be too clever, simply says Getz.

Finally gave a tired Carlsen themselves.

– It was bad. It was all a continuation of the previous rounds. It does not work so well, and today I was punished, said Magnus Carlsen told NRK.

– I overlook simple things. Neither creativity or the simple things are there. It was too bad. I felt good when the fight started, but after half an hour of play I was completely empty. The head was empty and there were no ideas or anything, said Carlsen.

The loss may prove to be costly for Carlsen, who led the fight for Olympic gold medal on the first table – the tournament’s best player individually.

Miserable Norwegian Today

Leif Erlend Johannessen’s game against Mladen Palac ended in a draw (tie). Johannessen is undefeated so far.

Kjetil A. Lie lost to Zdenko Kozul, and thus it was clear that Norway had lost the Superbowl.

– Small went wrong in the complications out of time and was checkmate. A terrible day for Norway 1, commented Getz.

Jon Ludvig Hammer met Hrvoje Stevic. Hammer got time trouble towards the end and made some mistakes that your opponent exploited.

With the loss, Norway has no ability to port the top ten in the tournament with 12 points after 10 rounds. It is a day of rest in Tromsø Wednesday, but it all ends Thursday.

The Norwegian second team played a 2-2 draw against Colombia.
