- No one can spell ‘Gazza’ fresh – Aftenposten

Erik Thor President and suffers with his former teammate Paul Gascoigne, who are in great difficulty.

The pictures of the former fotballkjæledeggen go around the world. And unfortunately, is not the first time Paul Gascoigne (47) is pictured drunk and into trouble.

This time is “Gazza” pictured outside his apartment in Poole in Dorset, southwest England, with a vodka bottle in hand . Due to much noise in the apartment he accompanied the Daily Mirror, which also has pictures of the former football darling, have been thrown out of the house owner, and was taken by ambulance and police. The pictures tell that “Gazza” again has tumbled late, and 47-year-old has again reached the bottom.

football and intoxication

Erik Thor President and played with Gascoigne in Tottenham and had last contact with his former teammate as “Gazza” visited TV2′s Premier League studio before Christmas in 2011 Thorstvedt seen “Gazza” so many times before.

– It is terrible sad to see. Now it has not really gone quite well with him for a while, but it must be something extraordinary to break out of the pattern there. No one can conjure ‘Gazza’ fresh, says Thor and CEO of Aftenposten.

The story of Paul Gascoigne is the story of the gifted footballer, spilloppmakeren and the midpoint, which ravaged the pitch but struggled considerably more outside. Alcohol and drugs became as synonymous with the former national hero who assists and good games. Several times an entire football world have been able to frolic in tabloid newspapers fabric of the whole of England “Gazza”.

Thorstvedt’m afraid that’s how it will remain.

– There are many who are in the same situation as ” Gazza, “and I do not know if that has something to say that he was a footballer. But one is abusing and has a lot of mental baggage, as “Gazza” has, indeed, it is not that much more to say. But the advantage to “Gazza”, compared to many others, is that many people want to help him. It means that he is more fortunate than many others. But it is not always enough if one is not willing to accept help or are able to take care of themselves. Then it becomes very difficult, says the former national team goalkeeper.

Hike with “Gazza”

He has been thinking if he should take with him Gascoigne to the Norwegian mountains in an attempt to get him sober.

– But you risk the wake in the morning, and he’s gone.

But his unique position in England allows the queue of those who will help him out of the impasse is long.

– He drawers so clearly those trying to help. But there will always be someone who wants to contribute. I think he has with his obsessions and mental problems from childhood, when it becomes an endless circle. And there is a case for medical personnel. My former teammate in Tottenham, Gary Mabutt are among those who help “Gazza” almost on a daily basis. But what to do? He may have good periods, work part and be fine. So he falls late again. It’s terribly sad, says Thor and CEO.

See the light

– But one can hope that he sees the light and gets to his feet, again. Miracles happen jo. But can he work in television, he can not be a coach. It’s one of the problems he has. He has no private income. And I think having him a little inside. Especially when he knows what he has had the money and see what players earn today. While he was sitting there with nothing.

Paul Gascoigne played 57 internationals for England from 1988 to 1998.
