- The greatest victory in their history – Aftenposten

Oilers players accounted for by Norwegian klubbhockeys greatest feats ever in the Czech Republic.

Trinec-OILERS 5.4

CZECH (AFTENBLADET): After 3-7 in Champions League debut against Finland Tappara Thursday, there were not many who believed in Oilers win over Trinec Saturday night. But after a proper accomplishment of Stavanger team ended finally with a sensational 5-4 victory at Werk Arena.

– This is the greatest victory in their history. At least in a single match. To beat a Czech top team away from home in a tournament like this is just awesome. I’m really impressed by the players who sacrifice everything to win, says Oilers coach Petter Thoresen after the victory against Trinec.

Sport Director Paul Higson will not go down with this.

– target ahead was to take some big scalps. Now we have one, but we will not give us now. This is proof that we belong in this company.

– There was not one person in the whole world, except us Oilers, who believed that we could this. Therefore it is absolutely wonderfully delicious. We learned a lot from the fight against Tappara Tampere, and I think we showed against Trinec. We kept a cool head even if they pushed on, and exploited the opportunities when we got them, says Christian Dahl Andersen.

As against Tappara, it was the Oilers who started the match in Trinec best. Led by its eminent primarily led Oilers 3-1 midway through the team that opened the Champions League beating Swiss Bern is 7-0. Oilers played with great sacrifice, made wise decisions with the puck and got contributions from far more than they did in Finland last.

– We bummed not for the fight against Tappara, instead we decided to drive on further . We score some decent “møkkamål” and sacrifice ourselves for each other. When so many people contributing, it is usually good in the end, says Kristian Forsberg – who returned home to Norwegian hockey just to experience triumphs like this.

So ugly

Sure enough so ugly when Oceláři Trinec first reduced to 2-3. Christian Dahl Andersen gave the Oilers a new tomålsledelse soon after, but it was the only Czech in Trinec. The red-clad hosts first reduced to 3-4 by the end of the middle period, before they scored the 4-4 early in the third.

– We continued to play smart though they pushed on. That they score some random target that changes the direction of our backs are slightly suture, but by and large it all, I am very satisfied with everything we do, says Petter Thoresen.

And when the Oilers had worked his way back the game, got Stavanger-made opportunity to decide in its favor. It took the – albeit a little later than planned. Oilers skuslet namely away the golden opportunity when they had two more players on the ice, but what does that matter when they score anyway?

In game five against four bumped Nick Plastino from the blue line. The puck flew through a forest of players in front of goal and past Hrubec in Trinec goal.

– I was just trying to get the puck through the players in front of goal. When it went in, it was a very sick feeling. We have worked extremely hard for this. All players sacrificed everything to win, and then we show how good we are, says the match winner Nick Plastino.

At the end squeezed homemade horrible, but a combination of blocking, tackling, goalkeeper saves and smart choices kept the puck outside.

Holm remembered bad

– I was so tired at the end that I do not remember quite what happened. I’m going to sleep well after this, it is certainly safe. All credit to the players in front of me who sacrifice everything to stop as many shots as possible. A tremendous experience, says Oilers goalie Henrik Holm – who took on the expense of Ruben Smith in this game.

– When I went to Norwegian College of Elite Sport, we traveled to the Czech Republic to play against other junior teams. We lost everything. Now we come down here and beat a Czech top layer. It is an absolutely huge sense says Holm.

Captain Snorre Hallem was just a big smile in the locker room after the game.

– We beat a top team in Europe away from home. This is the top European hockey. It shows that when we stand together as a team and play smart, we are not so bad, we also said Oilers captain.

Finally voted it for Helmet

– I struggled a bit in the run, but now voted it finally. Unbelievably wonderful to contribute to this victory. It’s really crazy that we are winning, says Joakim Hjelm – who played a near flawless game at full-back Dennis Sveum through injury.

After two matches in CHLs group E, are all teams with three points. Oilers met the two group favorites away from home, and is very much in the battle for promotion. Now the two home games against just Tappara and Trinec before double matches against Swiss Bern happens later in September.

– All teams have equal points. It is completely open, but now it is we who will be playing at home. Of course we have a chance. And it has plans to give everything for the taking, says tomålsscorer Nick Plastino to Aftonbladet.
