- I’m not here because I’m a very nice person – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Lots and much has been written about Manchester United’s new manager in recent weeks and months, but few if any have taken on board the Dutchman as Gary Neville did in today’s Telegraph.

The former United legend does in a lengthy interview explain personality and football philosopher van Gaal, and says that he believes 63-year-old is the right man to lead the legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson on.

– I left Carrington (training ground) with the feeling that van Gaal will continue the tradition that was started by Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson. I’m not saying he’ll be here in 25 years, but he has the same principles, writes Neville.

– Not here because I’m nice

Van Gaal is a manager who is known to be tough in many ways, but primarily in the way his teams play. Closest uncompromising choice was formation and style of play.

He still will not talk about that it is a “faith” of young players. The system is superior to everything.

– It is not a belief. It is about seeing and observing. When you see that a young player has talent and he fits in one position, then he can do the job. Maybe I have a good eye for just that. It’s not just that a player must have experience, he will also fit into the system. I’m not here because I’m a very nice person. I am here because of my philosophy, says van Gaal.

Manchester United is also a long tradition of letting young players have a go. Certainly also the talents from the club’s own academy. This is also a philosophy that is the Dutchman’s heart close, and he refers to this in drawing up the Champions League final in 1995

At that time, he led Ajax to the Dutch title with many young players.

– I actually played by 17-year-old players in the Champions League Dinal, so do not tell me that youngsters can not play football. When you establish a philosophy can accomplish much. (Clarence) Seedorf was only 17 when he played in a final, and he was a good game. (Patrick) Kluivert was only 18, and he scored a goal, he says.

– Maybe Multiplayer

There has also been a tremendous pressure on van Gaal and Ed Woodward to collect large name this summer.

Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo has already entered the gates at Old Trafford. The manager is happy with the players who have arrived, but do not rule out that there will be more names.

– You have to buy players that improve your team. That’s why I bought the Marcos Rojo, because he can play in two positions (back and central defender). For us he is very good. It may well be we buy more players, he said.

After losing 1-2 in the opening match of Swansea, now waiting Sunderland away at the Stadium of Light Sunday afternoon at 17.
