Rekdal: – ‘Moa’ is always interesting for Vålerenga – Aftenposten

“Moa” can leave Stuttgart free but VIF coach Kjetil Rekdal think there are two things that prevent a possible transition to the old club.

Earlier today it was announced that the Bundesliga pro Mohammed Abdellaoue could leave his German club gratuitously summer. 29-year-old, who stands with 33 international games and seven goals for Norway, have not turned to Stuttgart. Part due to injury problems.

“Moa”, with a past in Vålerenga – 69 matches and 30 goals – is thus available. Also for former club. But Kjetil Rekdal is unsure whether it will go.

– This was new to me. But even if he gets going free, he has two years left on his contract in Stuttgart, and so I know there are signals that he would like to complete the two years abroad and then consider whether to home. And he home ten Norway then, he will play for Vålerenga. But I doubt whether we can afford to pay him now, says Rekdal.

Can be too high salary

Vålerenga are trying to find steady grip while its feet after years with major financial problems. The aim is that the VIF in 2016 to break even. Thus the balance of the budget.

– Now just guessing, but I’m unsure if a player would like to go down from 10, 12 or 15 million in annual salary, to a million in annual salary. But “Moa” will always be interesting for Vålerenga the day he will return to Norway. But I have not thought this idea now, and now it’s probably impossible to achieve wage level too. And if he should decide to come home when the contract in Germany runs out in summer 2017, so everything must fall into place for us to sign him. But this is impossible to give a sensible answer now. We are nowhere near thinking in the courts today, says Rekdal Aftenposten.

In the morning meetings Rekdals Vålerenga Molde Aker Stadium. Molde has its two supposed best strikers out with long term injuries (Bakenga / Gulbrandsen), while VIF not quite been able to replace last year’s goal machine Vidar Örn Kjartansson with Deshorn Brown.

An injury “Moa” in form would have definitely been a replacement for Icelander with 25 league goals last year. But Rekdal says expensive players have got no from Vålerenga after Rekdal took over as coach again until 2013 season. Precisely because the economy should not be pressed further.

– We have said no to the players many times because they have been too expensive for us. There are many who have been able to think and imagine themselves playing for Vålerenga, but it has been expensive fir. Then we had to say no thank you. It is both Norwegian and foreign players, says Rekdal.

Considering buying in summer

The club already planning for next season, and open up opportunities to bring new blood this summer.

– We are killing us on all levels when it comes to playing the logistics. It is closely linked with the economy of the club. We must plan everything very well not to take on new expenses we can not handle. But labor costs our go drastically down 1 January next year. But we have to replace some of those who are outgoing contracts. There we work with. Besides, it can be sales in the summer, then you might also have to be replaced. But it is still an internal matter, says VIF coach.

– Is it true that club investor Tor Olav Trøim can contribute something in the summer for amplifying an medaljejagende VIF?

– We have an owner in London who follows very closely what happens. And that is positive and optimistic on our behalf. And there is enough certainly more positive for an investor to join the investment when he sees the direction this is going in. Until now, he has helped to fill big black hole. We are in a final spurt to rebuild Vålerenga, and it can give us great opportunities in the coming years. Then it is important to have a team playing the football we want and that is developing in the right direction, says Rekdal.

The right direction is the team from Oslo east. In 2013 it was 11th, last 6th place. Now the team in 3rd place in the table after 12 matches. There are six points behind league leaders Rosenborg, but three ahead of last year’s champion Molde.
