Singh about Riise India adventure: – He’ll get a new perspective on life – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Earlier today it was announced that John Arne Riise continues his career in India – which has a season that runs from October to December.

34-year-old gave up the Cypriot Apoel in late May, one year before the contract went out. He helped win the league and cup gold on the small island nation.

He has not yet gone out with which club he will play for the Indian Super League (ISL), but club selection should – of all places – is published on his wife, Louise Angelica Riise, blog over the next few days, according to TV2.

– Not particularly high level

One who knows India well, Molde-stjerna Harmeet Singh. 24-year-old Indian parents and lived a year in the country as children.

Singh told Dagbladet that ISL is a league on the way forward.

– It is not a particularly high level of league, but what we can say is that India is a place where football is evolving. I know football over there through friends and family, and also John Goossens who I played with in the Netherlands. He went there after we had been in Feyenoord together, says Singh.

– This is first and foremost a great adventure for John Arne. He’s going to see both sides of life, both poverty and wealth. He’ll get a new perspective on life after having been there. Soccer interest in India is on the way ahead, but remember that cricket is by far the greatest there, with hockey as a good number two, put the midfielder added.

team mate with James

India Times has previously reported that the club Kerala Blasters have been looking to secure Riise as their new star player.

If there is Kerala, which is based in the city of Kochi completely in the southwest of India, which is the club Riise to play for, being the Norwegian team mate with the former England keeper bar David James.

Also, former Premier League striker Michael Chopra has played for Kerala Blasters.

– I know actually him who fetched Chopra there, but I do not know particularly well for either team or city. My family is from Punjab in northern India, said Singh.

The man who will train Riise next season – though Kerala is the club he is going to – is the former English national team coach Peter Taylor.

Harmeet Singh think it’s tremendous when Dagbladet tells him who owns Kerala Blasters. It is namely the former cricket player Sachin Tendulkar (42).

– Wow, that’s cool. He is the biggest star in the whole India. He is perhaps the best ever cricketer and has the same status in cricket as Diego Maradona and Pele has in football. He is a hero among the people. It had been great to meet him once, says Singh.

24-year-old, who describes himself as half Indian and half Norwegian, has previously considered playing for the Indian national team, but has elected Norway.

He should have been with the coaching staff troop to meetings with Sweden and Azerbaijan this week, but had to enroll decay due to injury.

– Tough luck

About the other national boys’ 0-0 match against Sweden yesterday, he said:

– It would be fun to be with. It was fun to see that they did a pretty good game going, especially in the 2nd half. It sucks having to enroll maturity, says Singh, adding:

– I’ve been struggling with an overload in akillesen. I have taken tablets and taken it easy in recent days. Hopefully I’m ready for the next Molde match (against Vålerenga June 20, journ.anm.).

Singh had a brilliant season at Molde way towards the league title last season. He sees no reason to follow in John Arne Riise’s footsteps – at least not just yet.

– I have not thought much about whether I want to play in India. A person who obtains players there have asked me about it earlier, but you better ask me in ten years, he said.
