Kasparov: – Putin sent chess top in Ukraine mission – Fædrelandsvennen

The legend’s conspiracy theory get chess president to sputter with rage.

The bitter feud between Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, president of the International Chess Federation FIDE and chess legend Garry Kasparov has been going on for years, and reached new heights when Kasparov made an unsuccessful attempt to take over power in FIDE during the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø summer 2014.

Now they are at loggerheads at each other again.

The background is a conspiracy theory promoted by Kasparov in an interview with the Ukrainian site obozrevatel.com.

Kasparov reacted to that Iljumzjinov, who is a friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled to the Ukrainian city of Lviv and that FIDE decided that the World Cup match for women should be held there.

Kasparov, one of Putin’s most prominent critics, suggested that Iljumzjinovs trip was part of a Putin plan to annex parts of Ukraine.

– I can not imagine that a Putin-agent would be raised there without a special mission, said Kasparov in the interview according chess-news.ru.

FIDE president Iljumzjinov believe he originated from apes, but from aliens. Read more here.

– A liar

The comments are Iljumzjinov to sputter. In an article published on FIDE official website yesterday he attacked Kasparov.

– In an interview succeeded Kasparov to offend anyone, ushers chess summit.

– Kasparov lost FIDE elections, but constantly making every effort to damage chess by mixing chess and politics and inventing adventures that support his political agenda. He has been professional in their appearance, but this is Garry. He does not care about chess, but only himself and his political goals, continues Iljumzjinov, before adding:

– Garry is a great player and an even better liar!

Carlsen supported Kasparov

Further claims chess president that he was invited to Lviv of the Ukrainian authorities and that only Kasparov “with his great ability to imagine things” may believe that the visit was part of the deconstruction of the Ukrainian State.

When Iljumzjinov and Kasparov was involved in the train wreck on FIDE power in 2014, refused the majority of the world’s best chess players to give their support to one of the candidates.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen was an exception. He was clear in his support of Kasparov, who served as the Norwegian’s coach over two periods earlier in his career.

World Cup match Kasparov criticized will be fought by the Chinaman Hou Yifan and Ukrainians Anna Muzychuk. Carlsen’s next World Cup match, which is scheduled for 2016, will probably take place in the United States.
