Kristoff after downturn: – It has been disappointing – Dagbladet.no

Champs Elysees (procycling.no): With little Liam (born Midsummer Eve) lashed to the body, followed his wife Maren Kristoff excited with her husband last attempt to win a Tour de France stage this season.

Out of the French parade street lay Alexander Kristoff as planned in the second position out of the last turn.

The wife screamed and cheered when the big screen, in profile followed the TV camera a Norwegian with a clear lead at the start.

But: For the third time this summer ended 28-year-old up as food for the German “Gorilla” André Greipel.

– We did it we had agreed in advance, but we lost too much speed as pulling my cousin lost chain 500 meters from the finish. He was forced to accelerate again. The speed fell, and when I felt that I had to go to, says Kristoff to procycling.no in Paris.

– André Greipel is in tenth position in the bend, but you would still be first?

– Normally it is too far behind. They should not really had any chance. But it was possible when Jacopo (Guarnieri) lost chain, responding Stavanger-man who also was passed by Bryan Coquard before the line.

He also right that the winner usually has served at the forefront of the current bend .

Two negative factors for Kristoff

But then when neither the Tour de France has been completely normal.

There have been fewer obvious opportunities for the sprinters, and the big draw trains is overdue.

Both have gone beyond Alexander Kristoff.

– I thought at least I’d get two chances in mass sprints, but ground terminations proved too harsh.

– The lack of opptrekkstog. How has it turned out for you?

– It has enabled us to come forward earlier. We are probably really depends on to get higher output speed. But today there was nothing to say on it. Had not Greipel been so much stronger than me, I reckon that I had taken it.

More victory loose men

Team Katusha rider is not the only one receiving the disappointment over 21 Tour de France stages.

With the lower speed in the sprint, bloom Greipel. It also shows his four etappeseierer this year – three of them from mass sprints.

Beyond them has only Mark Cavendish experienced to break the finish line first in cycling’s Formula 1 practice.

Kristoff are without a win. So does John Degenkolb, Peter Sagan, Edvald Boasson Hagen and Bryan Coquard.

After two leg victories last year and a superior impression top in the classics, it leads to self-examination for Team Kristoff.

– Can you point to something that has not been good enough in the lead up to the tour?

– Not really. The loan may have been our strongly and we have generally not been more than three men. Today we did really everything perfect, but I’d probably not the legs, either.

Stavanger-man was hoarse in the ending after momentum party on the Champs Elysees.

– I do not feel I has been 100 percent in recent days, but due to illness. In the beginning I was in good shape, but it did not quite road. I feel like I’ve been good enough to take a leg in the tour, so it’s been disappointing, he admits.
