Martin Ødegaard taken off the field in Real Madrid loss – Aftenposten

The Norwegian took against Roma when the Italians won on penalties.

Real Madrid-Roma 0-0, 6-7 after penalties

Martin Ødegaard took the field in Real Madrid’s new manager Rafael Benitez his first game as manager but never got fully into the fight against Rome.

Front around 70,000 spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Arena, seemed youngster most concerned not to make any big mistakes rather than take any chances.

He got more loose beyond the ball. The races became more wholeheartedly and støttepasningene became fewer and fewer, but with ball at his feet seemed Ødegaard to be a little reticent.

The battle ended without goals, and therefore had to be decided with penalty. It won Roma 7-6 after Lucas Vázquez missed for Real Madrid.

Right Edge

Ødegaard got to try both on the right edge of 4 -2-3-1 and 4-4-2 and as an attacking midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation.

Roma opened the best in the game in Melbourne. Italierne had a great double chance after just over five minutes of play when the ball first went into the crossbar before Real Madrid cleared next shot off the line. Italians were also clearly vassere offensively the first 45 while Real Madrid back lines seemed a bit messy at the start of the game.

Going forward on the track was not much better for the Spaniards. The major chances did not materialize and it was poor flow in the offensive game.
