Norway meets world champions in qualifying for the World Cup 2018 – TV 2

Norway meets San Marino, Azerbaijan, Northern Ireland, Czech Republic and Germany in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It was long set to be a great draw for Norway, but from top seeding level was the reigning world champions Germany drawn in the same group. With a little more luck could instead pulled Romania or Wales.

– We could definitely gotten a lot worse group, was still Drillos immediate reaction after the draw.

First match of qualifiers played in September 2016.

“Group of Death” for Swedes

To see how lucky Norway in fact, no need to look further than group A and Swedes mildly unfortunate draw.

Netherlands were drawn from seeding level one, while France was pulled from seeding level two. The Swedes were seeded on the third level and got additionally tough opponents as Bulgaria and Belarus respectively levels four and five.

The Danes, who admittedly was seeded on the second level, however, was considerably more fortunate in his draw . In the qualifying round awaits Kazakhstan, Armenia, Montenegro, Poland and Romania.

Tough is also in Group F, where Spain and Italy clash to battle for World Cup ticket. On the British Isles awaits a prestige showdown between England and Scotland.



Tough terms

The winner of each group are directly qualified for the championship. The same is the best group deuce, while the remaining eight gruppetoerne player play-off.

The road to the World Cup was therefore long enough already, if not Norway in addition also was the fourth seed and thus doomed to get tough opposition in qualifying . Still, it is thus quite good for Norway.

Behind Germany, which in all probability will win the group, it stands between the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and Norway in the battle for second place.

Czech Republic are currently second in the European Championship qualifiers – behind Iceland, but in front of the Netherlands. Northern Ireland is in second place in their group, a point behind Romania.

How was the European groups

The show was opened by the controversial duo Vladimir Putin and Sepp Blatter, both – perhaps not surprisingly – spoke warmly about Russia’s qualifications to hold a great World Cup.

After Having drawn World Cup qualifiers for the other continents, was FIFA the event ended with a draw of UEFA nations. It gave the following groups:

Group A: Luxembourg, Belarus, Bulgaria, Sweden, France, Netherlands.

Group B: Andorra, Latvia, the Faroe Islands, Hungary, Switzerland, Portugal.

Group C: San Marino, Azerbaijan, Norway, Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Germany.

Group D: Georgia, Moldova, Ireland, Serbia, Austria, Wales.

Group E: Kazakhstan, Armenia, Montenegro, Poland, Denmark, Romania.

Group F: Malta, Lithuania, Slovenia, Scotland, Slovakia, England.

Group G: Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Israel, Albania, Italy, Spain.

Group H: Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Bosnia, Belgium.

Group I: Finland, Turkey, Ukraine, Iceland, Croatia.
