Snogging after dramatic The Open victory – VG

Zach Johnson (39) controlled my nerves best when The Open to be decided by replay between three men.

Masters winner in 2007, thus its second major triumph in his career. Afterwards he thanked his wife Kim Barclay.

– It is unreal, says Johnson said.

– Wife and I are made. She is the director. She is my rock. Whatever I do, so she is there.

Johnson laid the foundation for replay victory at birdie on the first two of the four holes that were played. The other two guys in the replay was Marc Leishman and Louis Oosthuizen.

All three had bogey at the third omspillhullet and face the final hole stood between Johnson had one stroke under par and Oosthuizen with couples. South Africans strikes narrowly – and thus Johnson fold around the neck of his caddy and cheering.

American Zach Johnson and Australian Marc Leishman played great at Monday’s final round – both six under par. After four rounds ended therefore both 15 under par.

They stood at the clubhouse and waited in great excitement if anyone else would follow them in replay.

Only one managed it, South Africans Louis Oosthuizen. With birdie on the last hole, he too finished -15 to finish.

With a bogey – one stroke over par – on the penultimate hole ruined Jordan Spieth his ability to write golfing history. America on only 21 summers won both the Masters and US Open and could have have been historically by winning the first three major championships in a calendar year. It has not even Tiger Woods made before him, only Ben Hogan. Spieth ended one stroke behind the three who were in the replay.

Jason Day also ended on 14 under par. He now has nine top 10 placements in the majors – but no wins.

The Irish amateur golfer Paul Dunne has shocked with sparkling play at St. Andrews, but came to fight trouble in the final round.

Another who destroyed winning opportunities were Padraig Harrington, who played three over par Monday.

The Open had this settled on Monday – for the second time in history. The last was in 1988. The bad weather with rain and wind put an end to the tournament could be decided Sunday.

It merkligste battle? Phil Mickelson went the ball from the tee on the 17th hole – and right on the balcony of the Old Course Hotel.

Tiger Woods could not have missed the cut – for the second major tournament in a row. Something like that has never happened before in his career.

Omspillresultat:

1. Zach Johnson, USA – 1.

2. Louis Oosthuizen, South Africa 0.

3. Marc Leishman, Australia 2.
