(Dagbladet): Athletics President Sebastian Coe acknowledges tonight, told Sky News that it was retaining information about doping when Lamine Diack, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
Coe claims his predecessors knew about doping use without report on, but that he himself was not aware of this. Sebastian Coe also claims that he was not aware of corruption in the organization, describing it as “despicable” and “appalling”.
This comes after a WADA report which was submitted today butcher leaders for IAAF arguing peaks associated’ve known about extensive doping in including Russian athletics.
– Not ignorant
An independent investigation committee appointed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) today presented the second part of its report on doping in international athletics.
“IAAF rule could not have been unaware of the prevalence of doping in athletics and the lack of enforcement of the doping regulations,” writes the committee.
The committee, which is chaired by former WADA chief Dick Pound, concludes as well that corruption is not something only individuals in the IAAF has been doing. “Corruption has been implemented in the organization,” says Pound committee in its report.
– A betrayal
Former IAAF president Lamine Diack, who was replaced as president of the British Sebastian Coe in August last year, given the blame for the corruption and bribery could take place in one of the world’s largest sports organizations.
Athletics President Tore Hordnes says it is sad to see that the top international leaders in athletics helps to destroy the sport.
– What has emerged in the last report that was published by WADA Thursday a betrayal unparalleled. We are simply been betrayed by our own leaders, says Hordnes in a comment said.
Russia sports minister Vitaly Mutko believes there are political motives behind the WADA doping report, according to NTB.
– There are many signs suggesting that the major political forces behind this. They try to prove anything whatever it may cost, said Mutko to R-Sport.
