German police have apparently prevented a terrorist attack in Frankfurt Friday after they went into action and arrested two people.

The two suspects had claimed ZDF apparently planned an attack in connection with a cycling in the financial center in Frankfurt Friday, “Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt» .
The attack is supposed to happen in a wooded area next to a small village which riders must pass through.
Multiple layers are on the entry list for the race in Frankfurt. Including the Russian Team Katjusja, with Norwegian Alexander Kristoff spearheaded. In addition, Germany’s own bike star John Degenkolb participate, Luca Paolini of Italy and Danish Mads Pedersen.

Kristoff : – Many lives had been in danger
Kristoff arrived Frankfurt today and was informed about the case.
– It is good that they have managed to avert it, so it did not happen. If not the many lives been at risk, says Kristoff told Dagbladet.
– Of course it is disgusting to get such a message. But that can happen anywhere and anytime, says Kristoff.

Linking to al- Qaeda
The two people, a man and a woman, were according ZDFs sources arrested in a crackdown carried out by a special unit on Thursday.
When a search of their residence near Frankfurt police found pipe bombs, a detonator and an assault rifle and ammunition, writes ZDF.
According to the German newspaper Die Welt bought the materials to producing bombs in local construction market under a false name.
The newspaper also writes that the man seemingly should have associated with the terrorist organization al-Qaida.

The two arrested is a 35 year old man and a 34 year old woman. The two are married. The man is a German citizen of Turkish origin, while the woman is Turkish. The couple have two children.
– There are indications that they are fundamentalists who has attracted attention in the area where they live, says Niels Bünemann from TV2 Denmark.
– People are in shock
The man, according to ZDF for years had contact with a group called “Sauerland “who stood behind a planned terrorist attack in 2007 in Medebach, Germany.
They had 700 kilograms of explosives and was started to build car bombs. Four people were sentenced to long prison terms at the time.
According to TV2 Denmark Germany correspondent Niels Bünemann there is nothing to suggest that the race is canceled.

Police action in Frankfurt is still running and German police excludes not further arrests.
