Real-fan Carlsen hoped Ødegaard-innhopp: – An anticlimax – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet :) Most Real supporters had two hopes before yesterday’s meeting with Almeria:

A simple victory – and a innhopp from darling Martin Ødegaard (16).

It was the first. Ødegaard got to, he got to sit on the bench, he got warmed up – but time was not. One of those who followed the game from TV was Real Madrid’s world-famous supporter Magnus Carlsen, and he got the same feeling as most Norwegians:

– It was an anticlimax, Carlsen says to Dagbladet on Thursday.

Real Madrid won 3-0, but Ødegaard left Santiago Bernabeu with the message that he still has some way to go.

– He needs to exercise more. He is very young, and this was the first time his with the first team. He was on the bench, but he has the future ahead of him. He must continue to work hard to be relevant for the A team, said manager Carlo Ancelotti at the press conference afterwards.

– I sat and waited to see him in action, and was a bit disappointed that he did not get close in the final minutes, admits Carlsen.

– But I also understand the management, because the team fighting for what they do, says sjakkongen further – and aim as to league title race and the Champions League semi-finals.
