van Gaal butcher own team effort – Aftenposten

Manchester United could climbed up on a second place in the table with victory at Liverpool, but at Goodison Park was the crushed by Everton.

Everton Manchester United 3-0

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal slaughtered own team effort after the loss against Everton in the afternoon. After the game said the Dutchman told BBC that this was the first game he has seen a team that “would win” more than their red devils.

– We have always had fighting spirit on the pitch, and I realize this is the first game where your opponent has had more of it than us. This was the first game where the other team was more motivated and aggressive than us. It is not good, but we are only human, says van Gaal.

Shock Opening

Homemade Everton shock opened against giant from Manchester, and already after four minutes stood 1-0 on the scorecard . They blåkledde won the ball after a United corner and put full speed towards the opposite goal. James McCarthy feinted to end between two United defenders, was a bit lucky when he got the ball with and almost tripped ball into the goal.

But goal was. A good start to a great and sunny fotballdag in Liverpool.

– It was disappointing. From start to finish we were second best, said Chris Smalling after the game, according to the BBC.

– This is the first game where I have seen a team that is more motivated and aggressive than us. It is not good, but we are human beings, was United’s manager Louis van Gaal reaction after the game.

Stones headed the 2-0

Manchester United took over control of the game and after 20 minutes could Smalling easily have equalized when all the Everton players concentrated on headstrong Marouane Fellaini, while Smalling was left fairly unmarked. Header from defender however went straight at Tim Howard of Everton cage.

Fellaini, who has flourished again under van Gaal, was back at his old arena Goodison Park – for the first time on the track. And after 35 minutes he had to see the blåkledde go up in the 2-0 lead.

A corner was turned from right, and inside front of goal race Johnstones free and headed the 2-0 with a leaking header – via the crossbar. On line stood Asheley Young, but the United player fails to avert goal.

The scoring was Stones’ first for Everton.

– I’ve been waiting for my first goal for long. This is the big matches you look forward to, and I had a lot of fun today. We know that we have under performed this season, but in the last few games we have shown that we are heading back to where we belong, says he told Sky Sports.

Out with Fellaini – in with Falcao

To break was Fellaini sacrificed, and in came Radamel Falcao, who has not been the hit man maybe had imagined him to be.

But neither he managed to find his way to the net.

Instead it was Everton who increased their lead to 3-0 in 74 minutes by substitute Kevin Mirallas – a goal that will be discussed. United’s defense thought namely that the judge would blow for offside on Romelu Lukaku, but the latter failed to run after the ball, which instead went to Mirallas. The Belgian could thus make 3-0 on single show.

Manchester United was thus at its second straight loss in the Premier League, while Everton continue their good form.
