Now it’s time for the all-time hockey party in Stavanger – Aftenposten

Oilers dominated big, but failed to take “byttå» Home from Hamar. A decisive battle in seven DNB Arena Saturday is nevertheless more than hockey fans could dream of

Storhamar – Stavanger Oilers 2- 1 (3-3 in matches)

HAMAR: – You must score goals to win hockey games, and we could not today. I think we played a very good away match, but we have to hit better with completions our letting in a too simple the 1-0, said Oilers coach Petter Thoresen to Aftenbladet just after the match ended in Hamar Olympic Amphitheatre Thursday night.

Now he looks forward to getting a final and decisive home game in DNB Arena Saturday. Never before has the Oilers played on championship gold in a match seven at home, and only once before has a championship finale been decided in the seventh game.

– It will be a nice experience. We must perform better than this to ensure the gold, but I have the belief that we do. I think we look good. There are a lot of determination in the team, and I consider our chances to take this land as great. We tend to be good in DNB Arena, says Thoresen after watching his team fall short in Hamar for the second time in the finals series.

Hopelessly goal

The barn was packed, the atmosphere at boiling point and Stavanger Oilers could secure their fifth championship gold in history. 3-2 in matches before the sixth settlement by lake had champion made everything in their own hands.

But after ten minutes was the way to a new kongepokal suddenly much steeper for the Oilers when Eirik Skadsdammen got put the rebound on his own shot from dead angle forearm on Oilers goalie Ruben Smith. A hopeless goal and ice in the years to all who hoped that Stavanger team would bring “byttå» home for the fourth consecutive year.

The second period opened far better set of Oilers eyes. After a close and regular 1st period where the puck bounced Storhamars way, it took just over four minutes of the middle period before Peter Lorentzen utilized a cruel mistake of Jacob Berglund, picked up the puck easily in Storhamars zone and put it elegantly goal behind Andrew Engelage 1-1.

wasted chances

Oilers continued to paint and dominated by each major in the Olympic arena. After 2915 came the struggle first deportation Storhamar-star Christian Larrivée and Oilers got the opportunity in powerplay.

The advantage Gehenna very poor. Hamarsingene red under century, but suffered immediately a new expulsion for having six players on the ice. Oilers delivered another miserable hideout, and when Josh Soares got away team’s first penalty for tripping, was made from Hedmark deadly effective.

A passive Adrian Veideman gave Linus Johansson both time and space to break into the front Ruben Smith from the right wing. Oilers goalkeeper saved the first attempt, but the rebound was the alert Patrik Bäärnhielm and fought the puck in the goal to make it 2-1 after 38.02.

Despite massive Oilers pressure and the whole 34-14 in favor Stavanger made were no more goals. Thus joined the party before it had begun for Oilers fans.

Home to mobilize

– It is proper acid to lose this battle. We played well enough to win, and it is annoying that we give away such a simple goal like we did in the 1st period. Storhamar got fight in its tracks, and even though we were the best team, we lacked that little extra to tilt settlement in our favor, says sports director Paul Higson to Aftenbladet.

He is clear on where the shoe press before the game seven.

– We need more quality in our completions and higher traffic in front of goal. It is once again the inefficiency that traps us. That we failed to score in 3rd period due both incapacity and bad luck, says Higson, who do not believe it will be difficult to mobilize for Saturday’s home game.

– We know that we are strong in DNB Arena. We’ve got a seventh game at home in NM-finals, and it is ready for the absolute highlight. It does not get bigger than this, he said.

Disappointed Forsberg

Sports Director feels confident that the Oilers fail to settle at home.

– I think we has played better than Storhamar over six games overall, and we lose rarely at home. The math is simple. We must win game four to become Norway masters, but I do not think we’re going to be more nervous than today, he said.

Oilers player Kristian Forsberg was a disappointed man after one-goal loss in Hamar.

– Bad endings of us and good goalkeeping by Storhamar-keeper. Therefore we won not this, says Forsberg to Aftenbladet.

He hangs still not head after the final drama front 6323 spectators ended with 1-2 loss.

– We have played all season to have home ice advantage in the final. In DNB Arena, we tend to be good. Everything is up to us. It’s much routine in the team and I think we will cope with a seventh game in a good way, says Forsberg.

all about Saturday

Josh Soares agrees.

– Now it’s about to be ready for the task. It’s about to end the season with a good game. I am proud of the efforts in fighting six, but sometimes it’s just so that the puck will not, ‘said Josh Soares.

Midway through the third period he was expelled for ten minutes for misbehavior. Thus he had to watch his colleagues hunt equalizer from the penalty box.

– It is the worst feeling. Refereeing I would not say so much about. Now it’s all about Saturday and to be prepared for what awaits there, says Soares.
