Vålerenga coach team took action when they saw what Deshorn Brown lacked – Dagbladet.no

ULLEVAAL STADIUM (Dagbladet): Jamaicans scored namely twice within 80 seconds when Valerenga beat Haugesund comfortably 2-0 Friday night.

Afterwards he grinned from ear to ear.

– The felt good to get the goals. To see the ball fly into was incredible. On the first goal, I began to celebrate the goal before the ball hit the net. So great was the relief. Simultaneously it motivates me to continue to work hard, says tip Dagbladet.

There are in fact exactly what 24-year old made after he was sold from the MLS club Colorado Rapids Vålerenga for just over three weeks ago.

Every day on the training ground, he stood again and rehearsed endings with Vålerenga assistant coach Morten Tandberg and player development John Moesgaard.

It has worked.

Pleased so far

Friday he used toe to briefly butting Vålerenga in the lead after 35 minutes, and 80 seconds later, he ruled the 2-0 goal via Haugesund goalkeeper Per Morten Kristiansen, after a great through with the heel of Daniel Fredheim Holm.

– Since I arrived they have driven mass termination training with me, and it has been fine. I look forward every day to do it. Becoming a better exit is an important part of my game, and I think it has gone well so far, Brown says to Dagbladet.

Have yielded results

Kjetil Rekdal made a point out that Brown had both speed, physics and good skills when Jamaicans were retrieved Vålerenga to replace Vidar Örn Kjartansson.

But Vålerenga boss did not hide that the tip had little to go on when it comes finishing skills.

Player Developer Moesgaard tells Dagbladet that cramming for training already beginning to yield results.

– We have run very much ending training with him and we have gone right down to the base level. We have run various models: An open goal endings from different angles, some after one touch, others after two. We have repeated a little every day, and I think he already looks better. Remember that he is a fast striker. With some adjustments he will be a real good finisher, says Moesgaard.

Will not quantify goals

Vålerengas new brand was taken off to tremendous applause after 72 minutes of play at Ullevaal Stadium. Brown told Dagbladet that he has not set himself a goal of how many goals he will score this season.

– No, I do not like to quantify how much I’ll score. I have always threatened the goal, and this match gave me two of them. Eventually it may be three or four goals, and maybe more. We’ll see, he said.

Historical good start

Kjetil Rekdal emphasizes that it is important to be patient with 24-year-old.

– I have said that he is going to score 12 -15 goal, but I have patience with him. He has not been here so many weeks yet. He had trained twice with Ghayas Zahid when he played the first match for us, says Rekdal.

Vålerenga mutations full control at a very tame Haugesund Friday. Gehenna lacked obvious confidence after 0-6 defeat at home to Rosenborg.

And now Oslo team secured seven points in the first three games. We must as far back as 2004 to find the last time it happened.

Haugesund part looks far from equally bright after 0-8 on the last two games.

Coach Jostein Grindhaug admits – Dagbladet – that his team now is a real relegation candidate.
