- Northug lost millions on Coop Agreement – TV 2

TV 2 can today reveal that Petter Northug lost millions by leaving the national team. In the weeks before he signed the controversial agreement with Coop, took it a high stake in the scenes. When it became known that Northug negotiated with Coop, took among others his former manager, Lars Gillberg, and Bama’s sponsorship manager, Odd-Bjorn Hjelmeset, proposed a “voluntary” among the FIS sponsors.

– In 2013 Petter had said he ran and flirted with Coop, and then walked part of the FIS partners together and found out that they could go in and help out a little. This was presented to Peter in a meeting where the total package well was greater than the offer he received from Coop. But Petter had decided. He is a simple man, he should be eccentric, and it should be innovation throughout. What he does, no one should have done before and therefore he chose Coop, says Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset to TV2.

– Could he earned more by becoming the national team?

– Yes. People talk about that Petter is greedy, but when it comes to money I would not say that he is very greedy. For had he not had the second offer (Coop), but that he had pecuniary had a happier life now.

lost seven million
TV 2 know that the offer from Ski Federation sponsors had a total budget of as many as 13 million. The base salary of just over 2.5 million from the Norwegian Ski Federation signed in this offer.

– The offer from Coop was at just under 10 million. But when one subtracts Northug expenses to run their own team of around four million, so missed Northug ca. seven millions to break with ski federation, said a source in central process to TV2.

TV2 spoke with several sources confirming that Northug almost seemed uninterested in meeting with sponsors who would he secured the biggest salary in Norwegian cross country.

– I was not at the meeting but rumors say that he thought it was okay to get it submitted, but he had enough decided even then that he would make the road completely new to most people, says Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset.

– So Northug is not greedy?

– No, I do not mean that Northug is greedy. But he is a bit special. Petter has an ability to do things for themselves, and the things he does very special. He will do it his way, and he shall make it so exciting and so special that it gets cool. So he resigned from the national team was not very special to me.

– Not greedy
Northug manager did not want to comment about skiing stars lost money by choosing Coop front Ski Federation in 2013, but agree reformulation conclusion.

– Petter Northug is no greedy man. He needs the economy is there to finance the sporting initiative. It is demanding financially. But he has shown that he has success with this, and want to have this in place even before the next seasons, says manager Are Sørum Langås to TV2.

He cares why not the piston Northug has received as greedy by several commentators and pundits in the last week.

– To the extent that Petter is greedy then it’s gold medals and success on the track.

– Redeemable
Today it became known that the Norwegian Ski Federation has invited Northug new meeting within the next week. It’s reformulation happy.

– I also believe that this situation is possible to solve, but I have not talked to FIS about it. Outwardly it may seem difficult, but when you get close in on someone, then mostly resolved, said reformulation.

– What is your advice to FIS?

– My desire is but we’ll see Petter Northug in the World Cup ahead. That’s where he belongs, and that’s where the best athletes go. So I hope this resolved, and I hope it resolved very quickly so do not have to discuss this for weeks.
