U23 guys warns Kristoff before the World Cup mass start – Dagbladet.no

The Norwegian Under-23 guys were surprised at how tenacious the last slopes towards the goal actually was. They are warning the Norwegian senior team before the mass start of the cycling world championships Sunday.

– The slopes in itself is not so heavy, but having cycled up there seven or eight times max pace, so you know it, says Odd Christian Eiking said.

– The trail was in any case much tougher than I thought, says Bergenser on.

He is supported by Truls Engen Korsæth.

– It was a surprisingly hard trail. It will be interesting to see what the seniors are getting into. There were many times over the short slopes, which sucks forces out of you. Especially if it gets wet, says the man who became Norway bestemann with 39-place in the U23 class.

Distribute Kristoff?

Yet he believes that if the field stays together towards the goal, it may be advantageous for precisely Alexander Kristoff.

– He’s bones strong. For his part, it may be an advantage. The trail is not so kind as people think, but Kristoff seems to be in good blow now, he says.

Several of the pure sprinters realized enough – after seeing the U23 guys – that it hardly becomes a sprint with a large field towards the finish line.

– The slopes it is not possible to run at a moderate pace. It’s full throttle from the first to the last round, says Eiking.

Both Korsæth and Eiking also one tip to the warehouse to the Norwegian seniors:

– This pays really running on concrete edge up cobblestone party. It saves you effort. But there are many who want to keep that position, so it becomes violent kriging of positions into those hills, think Eiking.

Restless field – many well-

U23 race was also characterized by many well towards the end of the race – both because of the tension in the area but perhaps mostly because it came a few raindrops. It is predicted to rain the men’s race Sunday.

The last three slopes towards the goal coming close to each other and are all within the last five kilometers. The first ground is 215 meters long and has an average gradient of eight percent. The next hill coming two kilometers before the finish line, is 185 meters long and has an average gradient of 12 per cent. Both of these slopes are covered by cobblestones.

The last ground is 295 meters long and has an average gradient of seven percent. It is paved and ends approximately 700 meters from the finish. After a 90 degree turn to the left expecting a gentle uphill towards the finish line, which makes the conclusion very tenacious.

– I would like to see the last hill was a little further from the goal. It gets tricky asked so closely after the tough slopes, says Alexander Kristoff said.

Round trail is 16.2 km and seniors will total cycle the entire 261.4 km, ie about 16 rounds.
