Petter Ski Federation meetings this weekend – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Petter Northug has finally responded to the FIS invitation for a meeting regarding cross country future matches.

– The meeting will take place one of the first days. I do not want to say anything about the place or time, confirming information Espen Graff in NSF to Dagbladet.

Who Petter Northug takes along to discuss upcoming winter any national team deal, is not known. But will probably Manager Are Sørum Langås silent at the meeting. Representatives from Coop has participated in similar meetings time expensive in summer, but Dagbladet does not know about Petters personal sponsor will ask this time.

Both Petter Northug and Norway Skiforbund have a common desire for Northug to go the World Cup for Norway for the winter. They are however far from agreed limits.

After Petter Northug left the national team for the benefit of private initiative with Copp in the back in front of 2013/14 season, his national team’s participation been an eternal topic of discussion. It peaked last week when skisktyret put hard against hard and refused Northug participation in the World Cup and that he had not signed it submitted the proposal for an agreement.

The controversy stems from the Northug sponsor is in direct competition with one of the union’s own sponsors, supermarket chain Spar. The Association reserves the bransjeekslusivitet, and therefore allows – in principle – no runners to advertise competitors union sponsors.

Skistyret nevertheless chose to swallow a small camel when they in June this year made an exception for Northug and offered him a blueprint of the agreement from last year. The offer received Northug in June, but after several meetings he had still not responded when skistyret met in Oslo last weekend.

It got president Erik Røste to say that enough was enough, and announce that Northug by definition would represent Norway coming winter.

Requested meeting

So now, the door opened slightly again.

Northug, who at his team have expressed a desire for both a more predictable long-term agreement, and an arrangement where he can “exit” the national team during periods of going selected long runs, responded to the ban by requesting dialogue with associated.

There he received an offer, and this meeting is now scheduled thus. After that Dagbladet has reason to believe it will take place this weekend.

– It will not, however Petters manager Are Sørum Langås neither confirm nor deny.

– I can confirm that we have agreed to meet. Petter wants an orderly dialogue directly with Ski Federation, and not through the media. That is why the desire to no time and place, says Soerum Langås Dagbladet.

What comes out of the meeting, is of course impossible to predict, but Erik Røste has previously made it clear that FIS has nothing more to go on than what was in the agreement Petter Northug had to assessment in summer.
