Bjoergen dropper “sports Oscar” for prizes on alpine – Aftenposten

Marit Bjoergen not travel to China to attend the ceremony where she could be this year’s sports woman.

Marit Bjoergen can be voted the sports woman in the world during a major ceremony in Shanghai on April 15, but 35-year-old prioritizes its own alpine front China trip. The NRK Wednesday.

– Marit has chosen not to travel to Shanghai. She prioritizes other agreements that are made at an early stage, says Bjørgens manager Guri Hetland.

The award named officially Laureus World Sports Award, but referred to as “sports Oscar”. Bjoergen is among the six nominees in the category of sport woman in the world.

There she is in celebert company with Serena Williams (tennis), Tina Maze (alpine), Valerie Adams (athletics), Genzebe Dibaba (athletics) and Li Na (tennis).

– Marit were of course very happy to have participated, but has chosen not to cancel the plans that were laid long ago, says Hetland.

Instead of ceremony she prizes in its own alpine, Marit Bjoergen ski race. Saturday 18 April, she will go Skarverennet.

No Norwegian woman has won the award previously. (© NTB)
