A praktmål captain. And a counterattack master class. Kjetil Rekdal and Vålerenga could cheering a flying start.

VÅLERENGA – STRØMSGODSET 3-1

ULLEVAAL (Aftenposten): – The last our goal is world class. We start from our own corner flag and it is opposite defender who scores. You will not find many finer measure than that, said Rekdal after dream start in the first matchday.

An effervescent Vålerenga was best and led deserved 2-1 first round.

When Aftenposten asked 31-year-old to consider the measure that was best experienced – his frisparkmål or counterattacks 3-1 – he was crystal clear.

– 3-1 goal! All manage to put such a foul. I do not quite remember counterattack goal, but I know that Sivert (Heltne Nilsen) played Niklas (Gunnarsson). I thought it was going to go over goals, but then he hit jækla well!

– How well is this year Vålerenga team?

– We are good enough to top five, but how good we are too early to answer now.

Even told Grindheim that he was skeptical after variable exercise results in winter.
