Fields of expulsion bonanza – Aftenposten

Norwegian players could have meet in the penalty box while Finland secured the victory.

NORWAY – FINLAND 0-5:

There were few expectations of Norwegian points and even fewer expectations of Norwegian victory against Finland. Finland is ranked as the world’s second best nation of the international ice hockey federation. Norway is in 10th place in the same ranking.

Interconnecting penalty minutes

When quality difference between the teams basically is so large, it is more important to be able to play with a full team as much as possible . It did not Norway in the second period. For a while there sat three Norwegians in the penalty box, Alexander Bonsaksen, Niklas Roest and Morten Ask. This utvisningsbonanzaen exploited Finns course.

They scored two goals where Norway only had three outfield players on the ice and went into the lead 3-0.

The was a tough loss. I take too many penalties makes it tough for us to get into the match. We give them 5 to 3 and they score two goals, and then it becomes hard to recall it. It is a pity. I think that we are on a par five against five. We score, when we got 5 to 3, and then it becomes as it gets.

– Are you angry with yourself?

– I can not take two tominuttere so. The unnecessary for holding in the first, and I’ll take the expulsion when we are outnumbered. That’s not good enough. It’s okay that there are always penalties and that there is little chance, but I can not let the judge have the chance to blow me out when we’re four against five. Then we know that it can slam against these, and it did, said an honest Bonsaksen.

To avoid unnecessary penalties against good teams, has almost been a mantra for coach Roy Johansen.

In the second period of the game was sinned against coach Johansens admonitions. Norway played in more than five minutes of consecutive second period with one or two fewer players than Finland.

Early goal against

Ranking difference was also evident in the opening minutes of the game. Finland went out hard at a rapid pace and was clearly the best team. They were equally superior on ice as the Finnish fans were the Norwegian superiority in the stands in CEZ Arena.

And when Alexander Bonsaksen suffered a penalty for barely five minutes into the game, was Finland effective. They took the lead. Esa Lindell was credited target.

Once again Norway under at an early stage in the game. Now continued non tabs equally furious as they opened although they periodically flash to.

Shot statistics in the first period (9-7 advantage Finland) suggests that it was relatively evenly, but you put all the time with the impression that here there was a difference between hockey qualities between the two nations.

The second period must closest to the Norwegian hockey heroes leave behind as soon as possible. The bouquet with the aforementioned penalties ensured that it was a very rough out on the ice.

The third period was a transport stage for a victory certainly Finland. They scored their first goal in game five against five and took the lead 4-0 and 5-0.

PS: USA beat Russia 4-2 in the second match in Norway pulje
