Prosecutors anchor all rulings in match-fixing case in Norwegian football, NRK reported.

Five players and two gamblers were indicted in the Oslo District Court to have fixed two Norwegian 2nd divisjonskamper in 2012. In late April fell verdict. Two of the accused players were acquitted of the charges, while the three others were sentenced to prison terms.

One of the two gamblers also received prison sentences, while the last man went free.

Prosecutor Asbjørg Lykkjen took time to think about the verdicts should be appealed, and now it is clear that there will be a new right round for all involved.

– We anchor for all defendants. Regards assessment of the evidence for the three who were acquitted and the application of law and sentencing of the four who were sentenced, said prosecutor Lykkjen NRK.



Lower penalties

Prosecutors let down allegation the prison for two years and six months for players Alban Ship Hani and Drin Shala under tingrett treatment. Formose Pape Mendy, Saif Haydar Jafar and Fredrik Notice should in turn be sentenced to prison for two years, said the prosecutor.

For the two gamblers sounding allegations of five years in prison for a 43 year old Swedish citizen and three years for a 33 year old Norwegian man. The court’s sentence was far lower than the prosecutor let the claim.

Ship Hani and Shala was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment, while Mendy got six months in prison. Jafar Notice were both acquitted.

The Swedish 43-year-old got a year and six months imprisonment, as well as withdrawal of 340,000 kroner, while the Norwegian 33-year-old was acquitted.



The sentenced appealed

The prosecutor Lykkjen argued in court that the players involved should be tried under the criminal law section of gross corruption. There she was not upheld.

– They were convicted of sordid corruption and not gross corruption. We also believe that penalties should be higher, says Lykkjen now.

The three players who were sentenced to prison, and the eldest of the two gamblers, appealed the sentence on the spot.

When the case may reach the Court of Appeal, is not yet known.
