Blatter: – We have lost confidence – Aftenposten

Sepp Blatter spoke of shame, loss of confidence and an organization that was greatly humiliated, when he opened the FIFA Congress in Zurich on Thursday afternoon. See video.

– I think all of you here will agree with me when I state that we experience very special and very difficult times in FIFA right now. It’s not going to come from that what happened Wednesday has cast long and dark shadow over the International Football Federation (FIFA), said Blatter when he turned to the delegates from the 209 member countries.

– We have lost confidence, and it is quite clear that the need to recoup and make us deserved to. The work must begin immediately, said the aged and highly controversial president.

Action and changes

– Actions made by individuals brings shame and enabling the organization has been humiliated in the strongest possible. It has happened requires action and change at all levels. There is no doubt I have the ultimate responsibility and must find solutions that can clarify and normalize the situation we have reached, said Blatter on.

He also said that much needs to be done to ensure that such scandals does not happen again.

– We must be confident that everyone involved in football acting responsibly, especially when it comes to the moral. I can not monitor all at any time, and it is such that if someone wants to break the rules, then they will do everything they can to hide what they have done, said Blatter

Swiss police arrested 14 People who have been involved in corruption within FIFA system since the early 1990s and up to date. Several of those arrested were prominent FIFA members. Several of them were also directors. Police in Weld took action on the basis of investigation and disclosures made in the USA, and the US government has requested those arrested extradition to prosecute them in US courts.



Pending more bad news

– Corruption can and must not occur at all. I’m sure there will be more revelations and bad news in the wake of the case which was revealed Wednesday, but we must regain our confidence and the job must all stand behind. We need to start this work immediately, said Sepp Blatter when he opened the FIFA Congress in Zurich on Thursday.

According to the plan there should be elections for the presidency of FIFA Friday. It says between incumbent President Blatter, seeking a fifth term on top of the world’s most powerful football organization and the Jordanian prince Ali bin al Hussein.

After Wednesday’s arrests and actions by Swiss police, it is claimed that More and more of the delegates at the congress is about to turn Blatter backs, but it’s hard to get a complete overview of what is happening.
