Viking in the red zone with NFF: – Rogaland Avis

Jonevret has had to endure a reduction of resources for sport on tens of millions since he was hired. Last autumn he grumbled something, but now coach clear that he is prepared to stand up in the storm in the red zone with NFF. This despite the fact that he now feels he advises of a better squad than last year – and risk losing players.

– Clearly one can marvel at a little over how such a thing could happen in Viking. Of course it is a shame that we have come there, says the Swede to RA.

First time
He never worked in a club in the red zone with NFF and acknowledge that he is unsure of the consequences. When RA says that could mean buying denial, and that the action plan may include sales, he is still ready for him to endure it.

Jonevret is determined that sport should contribute what they can. He points out that the situation has been strained since he was hired and is in a sense glad that it now comes out.

– We just have to work hard on with the people we have and continue to win games . Perhaps we can develop players who can be sold. Nothing is better. Viking is greater than Kjell Jonevret. Now we need to save the club.

– So you do not fear the situation?

– No. When I was manager at Djurgården in 2004, we have been number four and was without striker. This was not good enough for such a club, even though others had higher salary. Yell choir was started. I traveled around Europe looking for a målgjører, but found none. I was smådesperat, about the same time a guy went into a Swedish nursery with automatic weapons. The tsunami in Asia also came in that timeframe. I sat in the office and decided that it was just football. What I can do something about is getting the best out of those I rule over. We ended up winning both series and cup the following year. On sheer will and collective effort, says Jonevret, and continues:

– I’m sure the coach at the top level that escapes least of players I have not – although I also certainly can harp about it sometimes.

Ambitions in style with resources
He is aware that it is possible to get results with Viking with further reductions and selling players. But he is keen to reveal the reality.

– The sporting ambitions, targets must be in line with resources. Are you going to take medals must usually be medal level at all levels of the club. Not so now.

Jonevret has good advice for Viking moving into the red zone.

– I think the club should be completely open about the situation that has now arisen. It’s just stupid to hide something, say Jonevret – knowing that an audience feel sorry for Viking quickly become rescue financially.
