Ostrava (TV 2): Andreas Martinsen has enough shoulders higher than several of the Norwegian guys during the World Cup.
Even before championship has several NHL clubs have been in Tyskaland to see 24-year-old, who chose not to renew its contract with its German club Dusseldorf. He confirmed that Jonas Holøs his old club, Colorado Avalanche, is one of those who on several occasions has been the stands and showed great interest.
– They’ve been over to see me several times yes. So I can say, says Martinsen TV 2.
New York Islanders are one of the other clubs that have been in contact with the Norwegian’s agent, and he should have received a concrete offer from one club.
– It is possible that I have, he says mysteriously.
Favorite Club
For Martinsen it’s pretty amazing that just Avalanche is one of the interested clubs, for since he was little he has always had a love for Denver club.
Scored and was voted the best.
– When I was growing up so was Colorado dream team actually, with players like Peter Forsberg. But I’m going to go to the United States no matter what kind of offers I get. If I have to play in the AHL for one year, two years or never get the chance to get up, then I welcome it if it is the way you must go. I want that day I put skates on the shelf so I can look back and say “I tried at least” if it would not, he says frankly.
Martinsen has sought advice from the national team colleague Jonas Holøs, who even got 39 games for Colorado Avalanche in the 2010/2011 season. He was also feeling the body how it was to ever be sent down to the farm team, Lake Erie Monsters, where he played 17 games.
– You just have to be prepared that it is completely different over there. Do you play in the AHL all the team up, and you play many more games than what we are used to in Europe. One may have to attend a lot of hardship, but it applies to just man up and try to hold out as long as possible, he stressed.
– Taken major ones
VM bonus rises to 76 000 for each player if the Norwegian hockey guys taking into the quarterfinals.
Martinsen has for several years been noticed for his impressive strength and physics but this season in Dusseldorf (who went to the semifinals of the German playoffs) with Ken Andre Olimb has exceeded all expectations, and Martinsen was marked down for the entire 41 målpoeng of 50 matches.
Thus he made his mark with his scouts, and TV2′s expert Bjorn Erevik believes 24-year-old has raised much since last year’s World Cup.
– He is a big and heavy player with breakthrough power. Earlier I think he has not contributed as much as I had hoped for in the national context, but in the games I’ve seen in the run-up to the World Cup I think Andrew has been very good, says Erevik.
He believes 24-year-old has taken a big step, and that he has NHL potential.
Norway shock opened against the United States but had finally beaten.
– He seems much quicker in body than I have seen before, and his good season in Germany show that he has taken one step further in development. He is such a young player, so that it is certainly the clubs in the NHL that may find use for him if he fails to take the extra step. I will be surprised if he goes right in and get a one-way shoot-handed (ensured that he can not be sent down to the farm team jou.anm), but via a two-way AHL contract so he can make it. But he must be patient and not return home immediately if he should not succeed in getting into the NHL, stressing Erevik.
Scouts the stands
He knows there are scouts in the stands to see him play during the World Cup, which come into play on the nerves.
– More’ve been over to see me, says Andreas Martinsen TV 2.
– One begins to think the little course, but I try to think as little as possible about it and just play my game, he said.
24-year-old in this year’s World Cup moved up in the second row along with Mats Rosseli Olsen and Ken Andre Olimb, but none of the three have managed to distinguish itself largely in opening matches.
– We have not been on top in the first two games, but I think we were better in the first two periods against the United States. I think we’re just going to get better and better throughout the World Cup. “Kenna” and Rosselli are two players with a lot of speed and is good with the puck. So I’d better try to make me open, so they have someone to play for. We fit well together, I think, as we should and should produce in battles to come, he said.
In particular the fight against the United States was a showcase for Martinsen, but when he notched only one shot without showing off appreciably.
But Martinsen still have five opportunities to show off for the scouts, and then figure out where to book your flight this summer.
