Nine reasons to believe these trends will continue for Viking – Sunnmørsposten

Yeah. Varegg is a 3-division side. Albeit a good one, but nowhere near good enough to be going by Viking in very tough opposition. In this way may not sound Wednesday’s convincing Viking victory so impressive. But how it happened warmed in frigid Bergen and foreshadows a club that is on the rise.

Jon Dadi Bödvarsson dribbles, served and made the most straight on the attack. Zymer bytyqi and Yann-Erik de Lanlay bubbled on the edges. Joackim Jørgensen commanding the midfield. Stein Thor Thorsteinsson and Kristoffer Haugen ran tirelessly on each side back. And defensive did Indridi Sigurdsson a flawlessly comeback as captain and leader for a long injury break.

Lifesaving Jonevret

With seven changes from the side that beat Molde weekend, used Viking 27 minutes to get properly time. From there on in it was just a question of how big victory would be.

– I’m scared as hell against these teams. It is not always easy, but this time it worked very most, says Kjell Jonevret with a lugnt smile.

The struggle in Sandviken is just ended, and we’ll go with Vikings coach the hundred yards to the dressing plant .

– I have won the Cup a six to seven times as player and coach. It’s the easiest way to host European games, and something I will always prioritize. Last year we were unlucky that met Molde away from home in the quarters. With a little luck of the draw we have good opportunities to take us even further this year, explains Jonevret.

– I deserve playing time

From the bench on Stemmemyren turf behold Osita Chikere score five times against a Varegg-defense that was not exactly closer during the match. Although a Nigerian, had served most of the goals in virtually blank goals, five goals in a single match impressive.

– I feel like I deserve playing in the premier league as well. But I have to respect that it is the coach who sets his team. You look at least that I can score goals, says Chikere to Aftenbladet.

With Veton Berisha big games in the last few games and Suleiman Abdullahi goals, the burly tip is rather short shrift with little playing time this season. Neither Jon Dadi Bödvarsson – which perhaps was Thursday’s best Viking player – is terribly happy to sit on the bench when the team will drizzled into the weekend’s league match against Odd.

– But I’m glad on Veton and Suleiman behalf. I can promise that I will seize the opportunity when I get it, says the Icelandic national team player – who replies that he has not thought about his further future in Viking when we ask how long he is comfortable with being a substitute in Stavanger.

Content Granfelt

– All sporting success is important for Viking. The higher we come on the league table, the better it is for the economy. The same applies Cup. We want to go as far as possible, says Chairman of Viking, Charlie Gran Field.

A long life in NM is a great chance for Viking to acquire much-needed extra income. In that way was Wednesday’s victory beneficial also in the longer term. Away match in Bergen in 2nd round may sound unkind, but may prove to be gold when we know that travel distances in the early rounds are often decisive for the choice of the home team when it goes to.

PS: Magne Hoseth should really started cup game for Viking, but had to get over the illness. Substitute Samuel Adegbenro, who entered after the break, limped off towards the end after suffering a stamping. According Jonevret should not involve a serious injury on the Nigerian winger
