Rekdal alerts cleanup after shock defeat – NRK

Gjovik-Lyn stood for the big bomb in the third round of the cup when they won over Valerenga at home last night. After the shock loss told an upset and cursed Vålerenga coach in clear terms what he thought about the players’ efforts.

– The team is more than good enough to win against Gjøvik Lyn. It is both sporty and economic disaster that we are out and I’m incredibly disappointed. Player-wise we did not manage to create a shit, he thundered.

– Anyone is at risk

This was the third time Vålerenga smoke out of the Cup all in the third round. Rekdal believes that ignominious one-goal defeat to second division team must have consequences for those who took in the game. All players are now in danger of ending up on the sidelines.

– Those who got the chance today disappointed and everyone is at risk. I must take responsibility as coach and it will be hard consequences. We are better than what we show here today, but it fails in every aspect. Therefore, we must take action to get things on the right path. It’s going to go a bit hot in the locker room tomorrow, he said.

– Got lucky

Over 2,000 fans turned up to watch the match. Rekdal praised Gjovik-Lyn for their efforts, but said the team also had the margins on its side.

– They got lucky, they have one shot on goal and it goes into. But they stand to cramp takes them and it was perhaps deserved that they won, he concludes.

The loss will have major financial implications for Vålerenga. Capital club had budgeted for ticket sales in the coming cup round, but today it emerged that the club must save on budget.

– We will have to cut one million, says CEO Stig-Ove Sandnes NRK, without wanting to go to where the cuts must be made.
