River Plate players attacked with pepper spray – TV 2

Copa Libertadores-rebound between city rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate was stopped after 45 minutes Thursday.

Players from River got something that probably was pepper spray on them. Four men had to hospitals for treatment.

A Boca fan should have been behind the attack. It happened in the tunnel as the teams were going into the 2nd half. It was 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.

– I can not believe this. This is very disappointing, said Boca president Daniel Angelici.

– This is sad. It is unbelievable that such a thing could happen, said River coach Marcelo Gallardo said.

– The whole body hurts. They threw, I do not know for sure what, pepper spray on us. This is incredible, said River Plate player Leonardo Ponzio said.

River Plate led 1-0 from the first match of the quarterfinals.
